I hope your childhood provided you with time to play outside, learn about the forest, and eat food fresh from the garden.  These are things I wanted for my child, and something I want to offer to other families.
Looking forward to seeing you at Fox in the Forest,

Beach Exploration & Gathering

Friday June 13 Truly Fantastic Low Tide -
Meet Me at Double Bluff Beach on Whidbey Island
Options abound – build forts out of driftwood. Wade in the sandy beach. Explore the rocky tide pools.  Like seafood? Dig for clams, shuck oysters, pull muscles (off of rocks), collect edible seaweed. NOTE - last month we found Clams, but didn't see Muscles or Oysters.

Adults need a Shellfish & Seaweed gathering license, kids can gather with me for free.  If gathering bring buckets, spade to dig with (or even better a small shovel), small hand rake, place to put your catch (cooler or bucket with lid), some zip lock bags.  Oysters must be shucked on site, so bring an oyster shucking blade. Wear/bring rainboots/waders, walking stick, gloves, lunch and all of the stuff you usually want at the beach.

Beach has bathrooms & pick - nick benches.
If you bring a small BBQ we can cook our catch on site!

Meet us at the beach.  After you park, start walking along the beach to the right (North) for a ways.  I'll set up a beach blanket and a big red and white thermos with Miso Soup in it I'll be passing out Miso Soup with harvested seaweed 10:15 -  10:30, then we'll head out closer to the water and start digging for clams, and collecting seaweed.  I'll be I'll be carrying a bucket & Wearing orange sun glasses!
I'm uncertain about reception at the beach - Cell for Susie 425 368 8170
Cost $18 per family.
Limited space for drop-off in Bothell - ask Susie
